This video of Weezer’s recent cover of Radiohead’s 1997 classic ‘Paranoid Android’ is something I expect will attract a large number of comments from both sides of the Atlantic. When I first saw the video description I was hesitant to open Pandora’s box but during the first 20 seconds I was actually pleasantly surprised. However, Rivers Cuomo’s vocals just don’t fit this song at all.
Some could argue his voice is just different to that of Thom Yorke but you really have to think carefully before you attempt to cover one of the best songs from one of the greatest albums of all time. It’s definitely worth a listen to make up your own mind but a simplified review from me; musically very good, vocally wrong.
Thom Yorke’s new double A-side single was released today. ‘Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses’ has been knocking about since the ‘Amnesiac’ era whereas Yorke says that ‘The Hollow Earth’ was “a bass menace that was born out of ‘The Eraser’ period but needed a little more time.”
The single definitely sounds distinctly Yorke. Chaotic and dark, yet strangely danceable. It looks like it’s only going to be released as a 12 inch vinyl and as a digital download which w.a.s.t.e will no doubt make openly available soon enough anyway. In the meantime, here’s the ‘Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses’ at 320kbps (click link for higher quality) and the music video for ‘The Hollow Earth’.
The Eraser Remixes is a 9 track album of remixes from the 2006 album, ‘The Eraser’ by Thom Yorke of Radiohead. It features a remix of all the tracks apart from the title track and two remixes of Black Swan.
A lot of dubstep traits can be heard in this album and this goes well with Thom Yorke’s already distinct musical and vocal style.
The album can be downloaded through torrent from The Pirate Bay at 320kbps. I’m putting this here because his solo stuff always seems to be very overpriced.
At the bottom are three tracks from the album and here’s the video for the Atoms for Peace (Four Tet Remix)
Indie Music Finds was started in April 2009 as a place for people to find something new. I try and keep it quite diverse so rummage around a bit and I’m sure you’ll find something you like to take away with you.
