The Limousines are a San Francisco based electro duo. They’re composed of Eric on vocals and Gio behind the beats. Apparently they met on the internet and later formed The Limousines leaving their previous individual projects. I can see this act getting big.
They’ve released their first single ‘Very Busy People’ on iTunes but I don’t think it’s available in the UK. You can hear it below in the audio player (:
Mars Argo are a duo. The two members, Mars Argo and Titanic Sinclair first met online and later moved to Chicago. They’re currently recording an album and they’ve already
got a few great tracks on their muxtape page. The songs have a comfortably morose sound. Mars Argo also run an interesting blog called grocerybag.tv where they post their
videos and pictures.
Angus and Julia Stone, a brother and sister act from Newport, Australia started out as individual solo artists accompanying each other musically at open mic nights. They decided to collaborate fully in early 2006 and have so far released three EP’s and one full length album. They have a warm, wooden sound and are a good acoustic listen. I would have posted the video to their track ‘Hollywood’ but the youtube UK music restriction is debilitating. Look it up if you’re out of the UK.
Chocolates and Cigarettes EP
Heart Full of Wine EP
A Book Like This
The Beast EP
Dan le sac Vs. Scroobius Pip are an unusual mix of spoken word and electronica with a unique sound on the indie scene. Both members are soloists outside of this duo. Scroobius Pip produces some fluent verse and dan le sac has a real knack for mixing up beats. (see Fixed and Thou Shalt Always Flatten Beats on his myspace) They released their first album Angles in May 2008 featuring 12 interesting tracks, Angles, the track is definitely worth listening to a few times to get the full story.
PartyShank, a mash-up between Christopher Shank’s ‘I Will Shank You For A Penny’ and Howard P. Sausage’s ‘Party Sausage’ are a British ToyStep/Jungle duo. The newer stuff is more electro/punk and isn’t really all that great but the older tracks are still knocking around on the internet and LimeWire and are well worth checking out. If you’re looking for a new sound, some tracks to try and find are:
Hammertiming
I Wanna Go Second
Penis Vs. Vagina
Gary
Untiltied (without the vocals)
Indie Music Finds was started in April 2009 as a place for people to find something new. It’s now being written by two people both living in the U.K. I try and keep it quite diverse so rummage around a bit and I’m sure you’ll find something you like to take away with you.
